Add the chat widget to Squarespace

Use Code Injection. Four steps and no code editing.

First, copy your embed code from Website under Connect. See Turn the widget on and copy your code.

Steps

  1. In the Squarespace editor, go to Website, then Pages.
  2. Scroll down and select Custom Code, then Code Injection.
  3. Paste the embed code into the Header field.
  4. Select Save.

The bubble appears on every page of your site.

If Code Injection is missing

Check your plan under Billing & Account, then Billing. If you are on Personal, upgrading to Core unlocks Code Injection along with a few other developer features.

There is no way around this on Squarespace. The platform does not allow custom scripts on the Personal plan.

Squarespace offers both a Header and a Footer field. Either technically works, but use Header. The widget then loads a fraction earlier, and visitors who leave quickly still see it.

Check it worked

Save, then open your live site in a private browsing window. The Squarespace editor preview does not always run injected code, so checking inside the editor can be misleading.

If you are still building and the site is password protected, remove the protection temporarily to test.

If it does not appear

Work through The chat bubble is not showing on my site.
