First, copy your embed code from Website under Connect. See Turn the widget on and copy your code.
Steps
- Go to your site’s Dashboard. This is not the editor, it is the admin area.
- In the left menu, select Settings.
- Under Developer & Integrations, select Custom Code.
- Select + Add Custom Code and paste the embed code.
- Set placement to Head, apply to All pages, and select Apply.
Getting to the dashboard
This trips people up. From the Wix editor there is a Back to Dashboard or Site Actions link at the top. Or go to your Wix account, find the site, and select Manage Site. Custom Code lives in the dashboard, not in the drag and drop editor.
Name it
Wix asks you to name each code snippet. Call it “Respond Helper chat” so future you knows what it is.
Load once, not per page
Leave Load code on each new page unticked if you see that option. Our script only needs to load once and Wix keeps it alive as visitors move around.
Check it worked
Publish your site, then open the live address in a private browsing window. Custom code does not run in the Wix editor preview, so you must check the published site.
If it does not appear
Give it a minute. Wix can take a short while to publish changes to custom code. If it is still missing, work through The chat bubble is not showing on my site.
